Two days at Le Tour part one

Saturday morning saw us up bright and early and travelling to Leeds. Everywhere was decorated in yellow.

and at just gone  8am the streets were filled with crowds of people.
We had a glimpse of some participants signing on
The idea was to then get to the station for a quickish get away to Harrogate but this was thwarted by being the wrong side of the road and there was no way through. So from a new position we watched the  roll out
and then off to the station for the train to Harrogate which was packed but not too stressful.

In Harrogate the streets  were equally packed with people and covered in yellow. We had a good spot just beyond the finish line. Saw the carvan arrive.

and finally the cyclists

The atmosphere was terrific. We were not sure who crossed the line first and then the devastating news that Mark Cavendish had crashed. I hoped it was not true but then saw him wheeled by in obvious pain.

It was great day, I got sun burnt, was desperate for the loo by the end, had over an hours wait in a queue for the train back to Leeds but would not have missed it for the world.

Could not wait for day two!
